Christmas Doodle

Audrey-Doodle enjoyed her first Christmas this week. She was happy to receive a great many gifts from family and friends, and was able to visit with her five cousins.

Here are a few shots of her hanging with her (very tired) old man, and loaded up in her car-seat.

The Hideout

The Aud wanted to go to The Hideout today with Mommy and Daddy. However, since Daddy will need to fire up the snow-blower just to get out of the driveway today - no Hideout for you.

Aud was geared up wearing her Hideout onesie (courtesy of Team Sleper), but she'll be busy with Dad today - staying in and watching the Lions invade San Diego.

Happy Holidays from the Aud

Greetings, fellow peeps. Aud is getting amped for her first Christmas. And why not? Good food, shiny tree, fun music and new presents are all in store. Aud is hoping for a tooth and a book on the finer points of crawling.

Aud picks out her first Christmas Tree

Today, Audrey went to the Christmas Tree farm to look for a Christmas Tree. This will be her mommy and daddy's fifth tree in Ada, which shocks them immensely.

Anyhow, after a morning drive to Rockford on winding, snow-covered road - we found the tree farm. The Thurston's were underwhelmed at the selection of concolor fir trees. So, Team Thurston drove back to the Cascade area and got the gigantic tree that we get each year - from the little lot behind the liquor store.

Just a beautiful tree that had to be squeezed through the door. The great thing about concolor fir trees are that they smell like oranges. In fact, our entire house now smells of oranges. No lights or ornaments on the tree yet, but that will occur after the Lions game tomorrow.

Aud & Tom sitting in the tree...

The Patriots and Colts game today is being referred to as "Super Bowl XLI Part Deux." Mommy and Daddy will rooting for the Colts to win, however, Audrey will be cheering for Tom Brady. Not the Patriots, just Tom. We discovered early on that little Aud has a crush on Mr. Brady. She could be in the middle of a crying fit and if Tom comes on, she stops and starts cooing at the TV.

Audrey's First Halloween

Tonight, Audrey celebrated her first Halloween. She was dressed as a chicken, and visited houses up and down the street. Despite the rain, kids keep flocking to the Thurston House for Mars and Zagnut bars, pennies and pencils.

Bouncie Time

It looks like Aud has no arms in this get up, but her Daddy is trying to get her to play with her toy.

Welcome to the Pumpkin Patch

Mommy and Daddy took the Aud to Uncle John's Cider Mill on Sunday to pick our her first pumpkin. She had a hoot. Quite a few people there, but she enjoyed herself.

Baby and her Monkey

Aud likes to monkey around with her buddy, uh, Monkey. They are quite happy hanging out in the crib together.

Who is the cutest baby in Ada?

Well, Audrey is modest - so she will say it's one of the kids on the street behind her house. Daddy thinks it's little Audrey. Since he is always right, we'll stick with that.

Here are a few photos to prove his point:

Audrey at the Ada Covered Bridge

Today, Mommy and Daddy took the Aud on a picnic. We went to Blimpies and ordered sub sandwiches and, some potato chips. We took our lunch to a park in Ada that resides on the Grand River. The Ada Covered Bridge crosses that river, and we thought Audrey would enjoy it.

It's Bumbo time!

Here is a minute-log video of Audrey hanging out in her Bumbo. A Bumbo is a cool chair designed for babies to help with spinal development and uses the baby's weight to keep it securely in place

Audrey in her RainForest Bouncer

Here is a video of Audrey hanging out in her awesome RainForest Bouncer. Wow, I certainly wish that they made these for adults. Audrey is really learning how to play with objects - as witnessed here by her spinning the parrot around.

Audrey goes to a Whitecaps Baseball Game

Tonight, Mommy and Daddy took Audrey to her first sporting event. The Thurston family went to see the West Michigan Whitecaps take on the Great Lakes Loons.

We had awesome seats in the first row, directly behind home plate. Audrey enjoyed being outside, and even took a nap in the second inning while Mom and Dad dined on dollar hot dogs.

Return of the Swing

Audrey sure loves to swing. Her Rain Forest swing makes her feel quite content, and keeps her calm. Here is a video of her swinging, from side to side.

Boppy Time!

Aud has a little contraption that helps her sit up, and make it easy to eat. It's called a Boppy, and her parents think its quite handy. Here is a photo of Audrey relaxing in it.

Going for a walk

Daddy took Audrey for a walk around the subdivision this week in the Baby Bjorn. Audrey seemed to enjoy it once we started walking around, but she was not a fan of being stuck in the contraption. Hard to say if Aud likes this over her stroller.

Audrey goes to the Grand Rapids Brewery

The Doodle had a craving for an IPA today. Since she is only six weeks old, the bartender at the Grand Rapids Brewery denied her. Didn't stop Daddy from having a cold beer, however.

In yet another first, Audrey traveled to the GR Brewery on 28th Street today. She was awake and alert, and well-behaved as always.

Audrey is a Lions Fan

The curse of the Lions will be lifted. Someday. Until then, Audrey and her Daddy have begun rooting for the Detroit Losers, I mean Lions tonight. She enjoyed seeing #81 Calvin Johnson catch a pair of passes in the second quarter. Daddy enjoyed his beer.

Good morning!

Hi! I'm just sitting here, waiting for someone to entertain me, or feed me. No hurry - I'm not going to cry. Nope, I'm fine. However, I am very hungry and truly bored.

I would suggest someone pay attention to me pronto, or I may get fussy.

Swing for the Fences

Here is Audrey-Doodle swinging away. She really digs this contraption.

Audrey likes NASCAR

A few weeks ago, Audrey hung out in the basement bar with her Dad and Grandpa Keith. She watched the Brickyard 400 NASCAR race. While her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, lost - she still had quite a lot of fun.

This day was to prep Aud for the upcoming Detroit Lions season - where she will be spending more time in the bar with Daddy.
